Being fairly new to the Midwest, I prepared for my first “real” winter wedding with a boot camp program of running on icy roads, trampling through knee-high snow, and practicing finger dexterity in below zero temperatures. Feeling confident in my new skills, I anxiously awaited Jenne & Brady’s mid-December wedding — and the weather report calling for what I assumed would be snow, snow, and more snow.
But as every wedding brings lovely and unique surprises, so did the weather report. There would be no snow falling and you’d be hard pressed to even find a speck of snow on the ground. Instead it was Midwest-style warm and, at times, beyond foggy. As a result, we spent a good portion of the day outside — in December, in short sleeves. And by “we” I mean all the resilient, good natured bridesmaids, moms and especially Jenne, who was amazingly beautiful while fighting off goose bumps. The rest of us got off easy with proper attire.
It was such a pleasure to spend a lovely day with so many lovely people. Congratulations to Jenne & Brady and their new life and many, many happy years together. I can’t think of a better start to the new year.
